Star Trek Fleet Command on PC vs Mobile: What's Different?
What Scopely has actually confirmed about STFC on PC versus mobile: one account, cross-progression, cross-play, Windows and Mac support — and the things nobody official has said.
Star Trek Fleet Command began on phones and now runs on desktops. If you are deciding where to play — or whether to move an existing account — the useful question is what is actually different. This article lists only differences confirmed by Scopely or by cited reference material, and is explicit about what has not been confirmed.
Availability and dates
STFC released on mobile on 29 November 2018. Its platforms are listed as Android, iOS, iPadOS, macOS and Microsoft Windows.
The PC version launched on 21 September 2021 as a free download, developed by Scopely and DIGIT, a Scopely studio based in Dublin.
So both Windows and Mac desktops are supported alongside iOS and Android. The PC client is a native release from the developer, not an emulator workaround.
One account, every device
Scopely describes 'smooth cross-progression' enabling players to transition between devices, and says existing mobile players can link their account on PC. PC and mobile players share the same game through cross-play.
This is the most important confirmed fact. You are not choosing a platform; you are choosing where to play a single account at a given moment. A commander can check timers on a phone at lunch and run a longer session at a desk in the evening without losing anything.
Launch-time PC incentives
At the PC launch Scopely offered PC-exclusive cosmetic avatars and frames for players who downloaded during launch week, plus exclusive in-game resource deals for PC players.
Those were launch promotions from 2021 and should not be assumed to still be running. We mention them because they show Scopely treating the PC client as a first-class platform rather than a port, which has held since.
Install path
Mobile players install from the App Store or Google Play as usual. PC players download the client from Scopely's official STFC site; if you are unsure you are on the official page, start from startrekfleetcommand.com and follow its download link rather than a search result. Link your existing Scopely account when prompted so your progress carries over.
System requirements
Scopely publishes the current minimum specifications for Windows and Mac in its Help Center. We have deliberately not reproduced numbers here, because the page blocks automated verification and requirements change; check the Help Center article directly before assuming an older machine will cope. In general terms, STFC is a strategy game rather than a graphics showcase, and the PC client's demands are modest by modern standards.

What has NOT been confirmed
Which should you use?
- Use PC when you want a longer, more deliberate session — planning research, managing officers, reading alliance chat.
- Use mobile for the check-ins a timer-driven game rewards: collecting resources, restarting jobs, responding to an attack.
- Use both. That is the design intent, and cross-progression makes it free.
