Best Free Games for Low-End PCs in 2026
Free games whose official minimums are genuinely low, grouped from 'runs on almost anything' to 'entry-level gaming PC', with the spec lines quoted from their store pages.
Most 'low-end PC' lists are guesswork dressed as advice. This one uses a single rule: a game is here because its official minimum requirements, as published on its store page or official documentation on 3 September 2026, are low. We quote those minimums so you can compare them with your machine, and we do not estimate frame rates, because we have not benchmarked these games and your PC is not our PC.
First, know what you have
You need three facts: your processor, your graphics chip and how much memory you have. On Windows, Settings → System → About shows the processor and RAM; the DirectX Diagnostic Tool (type dxdiag into the Start menu) shows the graphics chip under the Display tab. Our setup guide explains how to read those against a requirements table.

Tier 1: runs on almost anything
Team Fortress 2
Official Windows minimum: a 1.7 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, DirectX 8.1 and 15 GB of storage. Free to play, released 2007, still with tens of thousands of concurrent Steam players.
The lowest bar on this list by a wide margin. If a machine can run Windows 10, it can very probably run this.
Brawlhalla
Official Windows minimum: 2 GB of RAM and 800 MB of storage — no CPU or GPU line at all. Free to play.
A 2D platform fighter with a tiny footprint. The 800 MB install is the smallest here, which matters on laptops with small drives.
Tier 2: old dual-cores and early DirectX 11 graphics
Dota 2
Official Windows minimum: a 2.8 GHz dual-core, 4 GB of RAM, a GeForce 8600/9600GT or Radeon HD2600/3600, DirectX 11 and 60 GB of storage. Free to play.
The graphics minimum names cards from the late 2000s, which means almost any dedicated GPU and many integrated ones clear it. The 60 GB install is the catch on small drives.
War Thunder
Official minimum: Windows 10 64-bit, a dual-core 2.2 GHz CPU, 4 GB of RAM, a DirectX 11 card at the GTX 660 / Radeon 77XX level, 720p minimum resolution and 23.1 GB for the minimal client.
Gaijin offers a minimal client that is a fraction of the full install, which is unusual and useful. Our settings guide covers which options actually cost frames.

Warframe
Official minimum: Windows 7 64-bit, an Intel Core i7 860, Core i5 750 or AMD FX-4100 with SSE 4.2, 4 GB of RAM, any DirectX 11-compatible GPU and 50 GB of storage. Free to play.
The processor line names 2009-era chips, and the graphics line asks only for DirectX 11 compatibility. Note the 64-bit requirement and the SSE 4.2 instruction set, which excludes some very old CPUs.
Tier 3: entry-level gaming hardware
Path of Exile
Official minimum: Windows 10, a 2.6 GHz quad-core, 8 GB of RAM, a GTX 650 Ti or Radeon HD 7850, DirectX 11 and 40 GB. Free to play with cosmetic-only microtransactions.
A step up — a quad-core and 8 GB — but the GPU line is a decade old. Grinding Gear also publishes a recommended tier, and an SSD is suggested there.
Counter-Strike 2
Official minimum: Windows 10, a CPU with four hardware threads (Core i5 750 or higher), 8 GB of RAM, a DirectX 11 GPU with 1 GB of memory and Shader Model 5.0, and 85 GB. Free to play.
Borderline for this list: the CPU and GPU lines are modest, but 85 GB of storage is not, and competitive shooters reward frame rates that a minimum-spec machine will not deliver. Included because the hardware bar itself is low.
Guild Wars 2
Official minimum: Windows 7 64-bit, an Intel i3 3.4 GHz or Athlon x4 3.8 GHz, 8 GB of RAM, a GTX 680 or Radeon HD 7970 and 70 GB. The core game is free; expansions are paid.
The GPU minimum is the highest in this tier, so check yours specifically. The 70 GB install is another consideration.
Honourable mention: Valorant
Riot designed Valorant with notably low minimum and recommended specifications, with an engineering goal of 30 frames per second on modest systems. It is free to play and distributed through the Riot client.
We have not reproduced its requirements because Riot publishes them on its own site and our reference did not list them; check there. It belongs in any low-end conversation by design intent.
What we left out, and why
- Apex Legends, Delta Force, NARAKA: BLADEPOINT and Marvel Rivals — all free, all with official minimums of 6–16 GB of RAM and GTX 750 Ti-to-1060-class GPUs. Good games; not low-end.
- Neverness to Everness — a Core i7-10700 and 16 GB minimum put it at the opposite end of the scale.
- Anything whose store page did not publish a minimum we could quote.

Frequently asked questions
What is the least demanding free PC game?
Of the games we checked, Team Fortress 2: its official minimum is a 1.7 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM and DirectX 8.1. Brawlhalla is close, asking only for 2 GB of RAM and 800 MB of storage.
Will these games run well on my low-end PC?
We cannot say — we have not benchmarked them and we do not know your hardware. Meeting a minimum means the game should run at reduced settings, not that it will run smoothly.
